Thompson & Knight Names Chief Diversity Officer

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

A few weeks ago, Holland & Knight announced a new Chief Diversity Officer. Yesterday, Thompson & Knight announced a new Chief Diversity Officer.

While Holland & Knight chose one of its partners to be CDO, Thompson & Knight recruited Pauline Higgins from JP Morgan Chase & Co. Higgins — a strong proponent of law firm diversity — started a program at Morgan Chase to monitor the company’s outside counsel: law firms doing work for the company have to report on the ethnicity of the attorneys doing that work.

Higgins is a rarity — a black female lawyer in Texas who is not African-American.
